AAPA adopts new Statement on Race and Racism

AAPA Statement on Race & Racism The following AAPA Statement on Race and Racism was written by the AAPA subcommittee tasked with revising the previous AAPA statement on the Biological Aspects of Race that was published in the  American Journal of Physical Anthropology , vol. 101, pp 569-570, 1996. The Committee on Diversity (COD) subcommittee was comprised of (in alpha order): Rebecca Ackermann, Sheela Athreya, Deborah Bolnick, Agustín Fuentes (chair), Tina Lasisi, Sang-Hee Lee, Shay-Akil McLean, and Robin Nelson.  The statement was unanimously accepted by the AAPA Executive Committee at its meeting on March 27, 2019 at the 88th Annual Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio.   LRPD Chief facing another lawsuit over unpaid debts Russ Racop - April 3, 2021   A year ago we were the first news media agency to report that the LRPD police chief had been and was being sued for unpaid credit card debts. On February 4th,   LVNV Funding, LLC , filed a Petition for Indebtedness in the District Court of Cleveland County in Norman, OK, the official residence of the Little Rock Police chief. They are suing for $12,217,13 that Humphrey owed  SoFi Lending Corp.       Like in the three previous debt lawsuits filed and won against Humphrey, his attorney filed a boilerplate denial.      LRPD has a  General Order  in place about employees conduct. Two Former Deputies Charged with Manslaughter in the Death of Texas Man Javier Ambler J.J. Johnson and Zach Camden, the former Williamson County, Texas deputies who followed Javier Ambler in a fatal March 2019 vehicle chase, were indicted Monday for manslaughter in the Ambler’s death, the Austin American-Statesman reports. The Travis County District Attorney’s Office announced the indictments on Tuesday. Johnson and Camden turned themselves in on Tuesday, but they have since been released on $150,000 bail, the paper noted. Neither man is allowed to work in law enforcement or for a security company while his case progresses. “With these indictments, we have taken another critical step towards justice for the Ambler family and for our community,” District Attorney Jose Garza (D) said in a statement. “While we can never take away the pain of the Ambler family, the grand jury has sent a clear message that no one is above the law.” Ambler allegedly did not dim the high-beam headlights of hi
